Words I never thought I would share in public, "We have gas!" As in hot water and heat!!! Who knew a water heater and furnace could be so beautiful?!?! Another lovely day, a perfect night for Trick or Treaters.

Another beautiful day, visit from Iowa State Extension to survey damage, on TV, recovering from two days of painting backdrop for fall play, finished power washing.

Day 44

TGIF, good to see neighbors out and about, waiting for heat and hot water, dreading getting up tomorrow at 3:15 a.m. to get the boy off to all-state auditions.

Day 43

More beautiful days, power washed half of house, driveway, and garage, transferred paint to new containers, play practice continues.

Day 42

Early morning for all-state trip to Council Bluffs, cold start, time in Vermillion touching up paint from move, back to Sioux City to a sanitized house, dinner at home then play practice, senior pictures ready.

Day 41

Cold morning, no progress at house, all-state parent's night, beautiful singing.

Day 40 - 140,805

Deep red sunrise against inky darkness, no work on house for a week, needed a larger space heater to stay at house, remembering Sunday choir concert, first home-cooked meal at Dunes house . . . steak on the grill, corn on the cob, last of summer's tomatoes.

Day 39

A windy but great day for homecoming, Shade and Taylor did great in the parade, a first of lasts . . . last homecoming parade and marching band show. Had Pizza Hut deliver to the Dunes house for the first time since May. Delivery guy wondered if we were moving out!

Day 38

Beautiful full moon, homecoming t-p-ing, dumpster gone, trip to Omaha with a good friend, ELECTRICITY on main floor!!!!!

Day 37

Three racoons on road in the rain and dark one decides to stare down the car so we stop and win, start to clean upstairs at house, basement drying, sump pump pits almost dry, powder puff football game, long days.

Day 36

Snake on the driveway, lunch with a friend, cat hurt from a fight, rays of light through the clouds.

Day 35 - 140,068

First time for driving in the dark both to and from Sioux City, missed the skunk crossing the road in the morning rain, sanitizing of house progressing, dinner at DaKao.

No school, on the road to West Branch and the Hoover Foundation presentation.

Day 33

Spent the night in Sioux City after a late return from Carroll and band at 6:45 a.m., clean up at the house continues!

Things are getting cleaner, Catholic Choral Festival in Carroll, Iowa.

Last day of demo, two more dumpsters full, basement will be a clean slate, good parent-teacher conferences, very proud parents, much to be thankful for.
